Poker Tournaments Starting January 15-21

It is that time of the year when Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino gears up for the traditional WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open, a festival that has always attracted great attention. It is also that time of the year when Australia is the arena for quality tennis and quality poker action, as it is playing host to both the Australian Open and the Aussie Millions Poker Championship.

But aside from the above-mentioned two major poker events, this week will see the beginning of several more. Here is a list of some of the most thrilling such events and a little bit more about them.

WPT Borgata Winter Poker Open

The Borgata Winter Poker Open is traditionally one of the most popular festivals on the WPT schedule, and this year will not be any different. The WPT’s festival will take place at the Atlantic City casino from January 16 through February 2. A $600 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em Deepstack tournament will kick off WPT poker action at the host venue. The tournament will be played over eight days and will feature a guaranteed prize pool of $2 million.

The $3,500 Main Event is slated to begin on January 28 and will be played through February 2. Entries will have the chance to win a portion of a guaranteed prize pool of $3 million. Daniel Weinman won last year’s edition of the tournament, after topping a massive field of 1,312. The player collected the amount of $892,433 for his performance.

Overall, the Borgata Winter Poker Open will feature 23 main tournaments and a number of side and satellite events.

Aussie Millions Poker Championships

One of the largest winter poker festivals is just days away from kicking off. Crown Casino in Melbourne will once again welcome poker pros and enthusiasts for yet another exciting edition of Aussie Millions.

The festival begins on January 17 and will last through February 5. As usual, its schedule will be rich in events and in poker variants. This year’s Aussie Millions will kick off with a six-day A$1,150 No-Limit Hold’em with a guaranteed prize pool of A$1 million.

The Aussie Millions usually features several high roller tournaments and this year will be no exception. The three-day A$50,000 High Roller is set for January 28, and a two-day A$100,000 buy-in tournament will start on February 4.

The seven-day A$10,600 Main Event will take place over January 28-February 4. The tournament will feature three starting flights and four more days of play. Local player Shurane Vijayaram won last year’s Main Event, good for A$1.6 million in prize money. Vijayaram was the last man standing from a field of 725 entries.

WSOP Circuit Tunica

Horseshoe Casino & Hotel Tunica is the next venue that is set to open its doors for a stop on the WSOP Circuit’s schedule for the 2017/2018 season. The casino will play host to the festival from January 18 through January 29.

There will be 12 gold ring events on the schedule and several more additional tournaments. A single-day $365 No-Limit Hold’em Deep Stack tournament will open the festival. The $1,675 Main Event is set for January 26. The event will feature two starting flights and two more days of play.

bestbet Winter Open

The poker room at bestbet Jacksonville in Jacksonville, Florida will welcome players for another exciting event. This year’s bestbet Winter Open will run on January 18-28, and will offer players the opportunity to participate in a plethora of exciting events.

Winter Open action at the host card room will kick off with a four-day $360 buy-in No-Limit Hold’em event with a guaranteed prize pool of $100,000. All but one events on the festival’s schedule are No-Limit Hold’em ones. A Big O 8 or Better will also take place as part of the bestbet Winter Open.

The Main Event with a buy-in fee of $1,100 and a guaranteed prize pool of $200,000 will take place on January 26-28.

APT Kickoff Vietnam

The Asian Poker Tour is now headed to Vietnam for a particularly thrilling festival. The APT Kickoff Vietnam will take place at Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh from January 19 to January 28. A VND4.4 million No-Limit Hold’em event will open the festival on January 19.

The five-day VND16.5 million Main Event will certainly be the one to attract major attention. It is slated to begin on January 23. The tournament will feature two starting flights and three more days of play.
