The WSOP Circuit Harrah’s Atlantic City Main Event is set to kick off its Day 2 of play in a few hours. As many as 35 players made it to the end of Day 1B, played on Saturday at the host venue. They will join the 19 survivors from Day 1A at the tables of Harrah’s AC on Day 2 to fight for a spot at the official final table and for the title.
Day 1B of the $1,675 buy-in event drew 182 entries, including players who got eliminated during the first starting flight. By the time all levels scheduled for the day were completed, there were only 35 hopefuls left to bag and tag. Kevin Blackwood ended the day as the chip leader with 291,000 in chips. However, the player ranks third in the overall chip counts chart, trailing behind Scott Sisler and Matt Glantz, who bagged the largest stacks of Day 1A.
Sisler collected 417,000 in chips on Friday night. He is actually the only player to have cracked the 400,000 mark He is vying for his first gold ring from the series. The player has cashed in three WSOP Circuit events so far and in one WSOP tournament. In 2015, Sisler finished fourth in a $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em Bounty event during the WSOP in Las Vegas for a six-figure cash of $105,024.
Prize Pool and Places PaidAs registration closed last night, organizers announced that there were 306 entrants to have bought into the Harrah’s AC Main Event. They generated a prize pool of $459,000, exceeding the originally announced $400,000 in guaranteed prize money.
The money will be split into 33 payouts, min-cashes starting from $2,740. With 54 players still in contention, the money bubble is expected to burst during the first half of Day 2. The Day 2 survivors will have the task to play down to the official nine-handed final table. The event’s final day will be played on Monday at the host venue.
Each of the nine finalists will be guaranteed a minimum payout of $9,956. As for the winner, they will be awarded the amount of $107,862 and a coveted gold ring from the series.
There are a number of former gold ring winners among the 54 remaining competitors, including Loni Harwood, who is vying for gold ring number six and also has two gold bracelets from the WSOP, Joseph Liberta, William Anderson, and Vinny Pahuja. Two-time WSOP gold bracelet winner and one-time WPT Main Tour Main Event winner Andy Frankenberger is also still in contention in the Harrah’s AC Main Event and is looking to win his first gold ring from the WSOP Circuit series.
With just 21 spots away from the money and a number of poker celebrities entering into Day 2, it all shows that it will be an exciting and action-packed day at the host casino.
